Tap Into Good Times And Good Deals at @TheDistillery

As many of you may know, I have been posting deals on kid's meals and happy hour specials. While doing my research I came across one restaurant that I was told had plans to close. Thank you for Priest P on Twitter, I was proven wrong. After discussions with him and Randy the manager on Twitter, I agreed to check the place out myself and as you can tell by the title and picture, that place was The Distillery and I am thankful I took the time to check them out.

Why am I thankful when I should likely be unbiased? Not only do I like that more places are open because also competition means good things for all of us and it means more jobs and food options in the area. Also what I found out was that this place (located at 3112 Erie Blvd East in Dewitt) has some great food and drink specials that I am more than happy to share with you all as I type this from The Distillery itself. I spoke with Dave the manager on duty and was impressed with all the great deals you can find here.

Want a sports bar atmosphere with TVs so close to your booth you won't struggle to see it? They have it as this was the view from my seat and if anything, I had to zoom back to get it in the picture and I have to admit that I love this idea!

Oh so you want food and drink specials? Oh my friend have I got some stuff to share with you and let's be honest, this blog is called Cuse Cheap for a reason. I came in about 5:30 PM and as I was ordering a drink around 5:40 PM, my waiter Ryan informed me that between 3-6 PM, I could order a tall draft beer for the price of a short one as you can see below (along with what looks to be a great deal if you are looking for a place to enjoy NFL game day).

But what about the food options you may be asking? Well let's start with the kids. They have menu items starting at $3.29 for a salad all the way up to $6.49 for burgers or chicken. On Tuesday, kids eat for 99 cents with the purchase of an adult full priced entree.  Not sufficient enough? How about free? On Saturday and Sunday, your kids can get the Kid's Scramble (two scrambled eggs, back & toast) for free with an adult brunch menu entree purchase. Don't believe me? Here is the list of their daily specials that includes this great deal and more.

How about a link to all the great specials I have listed and more including a Birthday Club, Anniversary Club, Happy Hour, Senior's Discounts and 1/2 Price appetizers after 9 PM with the purchase of a beverage? Click this link here to learn more about those great offers and here for if you are interested in enjoying their brunch deals Saturday and Sunday until 3 PM.  You can also check them out for Trivia Night on Wednesdays and for Syracuse games as well and they offer free wifi (just have to ask the staff for the password).

I would like to personally thank Twitter friend Priest P, my waiter Ryan, management staff Randy and Dave and everyone at The Distillery as well as apologize for not including them in past posts due to bad information. I can assure you they are open and worth the visit. My visit was very friendly, my food was great (I had Fry'd wings, though they also offered grilled wings if you prefer it that way, and a Swiss Mushroom Burger with fries) and I will definitely be back to take advantage of more specials they offer as time allows. If you are looking to tap into good times and good deals, be sure to visit The Distillery and try it for yourself.

@PrimoAndMarys #SalsaCuse Is Local, Delicious & Helping @alzcny To #EndAlz At The @NYSFair

For those who follow me on social media, you may know by now how much I love Primo & Mary's Premium Black Bean & Corn Salsa. If you do not follow me on social media, you are about to see just part of the reason why I love the product and supporting this great local company.

A couple years ago, I was told about this salsa. As someone who occasionally loves to relax watching TV with a bag of tortilla chips and salsa, I tried it and I fell in love instantly. I would keep a jar at work to go along with my lunch occasionally and jars at home as well.

Last year when dad passed away and I become the day to day caregiver for mom, the cooking duties fell to me and as someone who is a horrible cook that gets frustrated easily in the kitchen, I looked to find easy recipes. One such recipe I found on Pinterest was called Salsa Chicken (recipe is pictured below) and it was so simple and when made with Primo & Mary's Salsa tastes so delicious as well.

I have also become friends via social media with company owner Tina McPherson. We have shared our salsa recipes with each other, our love of other local businesses and a previous conversation we had may have hinted at the idea of nicknaming it #SalsaCuse.

Over the years, Primo & Mary's Salsa has grown and is now being carried in many places (and very soon will include Wegmans). To find out the store and closest location to you, you can find a list of where to find it by clicking here.  If none of these locations are near you, you may also have it delivered to you as well (the link for that is here) or check out the great folks at Syracuse Crate who offer it as part of some their crate deals for the out of town Syracuse lover. You will also be able to find it this year at the New York State Fair and your purchase will benefit a charity very close to my heart.

Recently Tina told me via their Twitter account (you can also find them on Facebook and Instagram) that they will donate $1 for every jar of their salsa sold at the State Fair to the CNY chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Here is all you have to do:

  1. Find the Taste NY Marketplace in the building between Gates 1 & Gate 2
  2. Locate Nelson Farms
  3. Buy a jar of Primo And Mary's Salsa and not only do you get the best salsa but you help a local charity that does great work for people like my mother who live with Alzheimer's disease.

So I hope many of you planning to attend the New York State Fair will pick up a jar while you're out there enjoying your free Chevy Court shows, 25 cent milk, a Gianelli's sausage sandwich, Villa's Pizza Fritte, or whatever fried fair food tickles your pickle. If you haven't tried their salsa, this is your chance. If you have, you know why you should grab a jar or 12 to take home. Keep in mind purchasing this product helps a charity and a local business and the more we can support our local businesses, the more they can grow and give back to the community in various ways. So tell your friends and family to be sure at this years fair to add a little #SalsaCuse to their fair itinerary and do your part to help maybe one day soon #EndAlz.

20 More Affordable Kids Meal Options Throughout CNY

Let's face it, we all know fast food restaurants offer some cheap meal deals but they aren't the only ones with affordable options for the family. I recently found a few more free deals for the kids but I also wanted to share with you some cheap menu options at various local places as well. I know sometimes feeding the family can be expensive so I am trying my best to provide a resource to help those trying to make it a bit easier.

I have done a couple others similar to this in the past featuring mostly free meals on specific days and people seem to like it so I thought I would expand on that a bit more here. You can find the links to those lists here and here.

Below is a list of 20 places I found that I think are worth sharing. Some are free...some are cheap...some are just really good values for the money. All of these deals are listed on their websites or social media so you may want to ask your server or call ahead to be sure they still apply. I will include a brief description of each deal and the link to their website or social media page will be in the title of the restaurant corresponding with the numbers associated with it. Each place offers different options associated with their meal so plan carefully if they want a side or drink.

20. Lock 24 Restaurant

This is likely one of the most expensive option on the list however with everything included with the meal, this was worth sharing. They have 4 items on their kids menu for children 10 & under valued at $6.95 each BUT included with that price is the item, potato, a beverage and an ice cream sundae.

Lock 24 Restaurant is at 33 Water Street in Baldwinsville and you can follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

19. Dinosaur BBQ

This legendary Syracuse BBQ spot makes the list not just because people truly enjoy it but they also have some good options for the kids. Dinosaur's menu offers 6 plates for $6.50 each for children 12 & under. With those plates, the child also will get the option for two sides as well.

For those unfamiliar with the Syracuse location, it is located at 246 W. Willow Street and you can follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

18. Ale 'N' Angus Pub

Whenever they do a list of best burgers in town, this place is always high on the list. But what you may not realize is it also offers a few kids deals as well in case they want something else. They have three items: pasta for $5, grilled cheese for $5 and a Jr. Chicken Finger Platter for $6.50

Located next the Oncenter War Memorial at 238 Harrison Street, you can also follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

17. Coppertop Tavern

With locations in Cicero/North Syracuse, Camillus and Vestal, much like their counterpart Tully's, they offer a place for adults or families. If you are looking to take your children 10 and under here for a meal, they offer 10 items with costs ranging from $4.29- $6.29 (drink not included). Be sure to check their website for more details as some things may vary by location and their website breaks it down by location to help you out as well.

16. Dominick's Restaurant

Located at 1370 Burnett Avenue, the restaurant that you probably see driving along 690, offers up various Italian options. Their Bambino options for those children 12 & under cover 6 different options (7 if you count hamburger & cheeseburger as separate options) all for $5.50 each. All items come with a side of french fries and some include applesauce as well.

You can also like their Facebook page here.

15. & 14. Trappers Pizza Pub & Stingers Pizza Pub

Since these are basically part of the same family of pubs, I am just going to post the information together. Trappers is located at 5950 Butternut Drive in East Syracuse and you can find Stingers at 4500 Pewter Lane Building 3 in Manlius.

Their meals are for those 10 & under and all meals are $5 plus tax. With those meals, you also get a side and a beverage.

For more information, you can find Trappers on Twitter and Facebook and Stingers also on Twitter and Facebook.

13. Stella's Diner

Located at 110 Wolf Street (corner of Wolf and Lodi Street), Stella's is open 7 days a week and even an option for those with the Off-Campus Meal Plan.

As for kids 12 & under, they offer breakfast options for $4.29 and lunch/dinner options for $5.59. Their Kid's Choice Menu does also include a small drink.

12. Rico's Ristorante

Rico's Children's Menu includes 4 options for $4.95 and 2 for $5.95. Everything except the pasta with meatballs comes with french fries as well. Plan accordingly because Rico's is closed on Mondays.

11. Mac's Local Yolk

I don't like to play favorites with these but this is one on my favorite local spots. Located at the old IHOP at 4603 W. Genesee Street, often times using local products.

You will also find the Little Mac's Menu for kids up to the age of 10. There are 7 breakfast options and 5 lunch option are $4.99 & lunch comes with your choice of fries, apple sauce, or yogurt and a drink.

10. Euclid Restaurant

Located in Clay at 4285 Route 31 out near Great Northern Mall, Euclid is a family restaurant that is closed on Sundays during the summer season.

Their children's menu starts with a hot dog and fries for $3.95 and also offers 8 other options for only $4.95 (6 of the 8 also offer two sides as part of the meal). You must dine in and children must be under the age of 10 as well.

Wanting to follow them on social media? You can find them on Twitter and Facebook if you're interested.

9. The Big Cheese

Planning to visit Oneida anytime soon or leave nearby? You can find The Big Cheese at 118 Phelps Street and they are open 7 days a week.

What you will also find is two options for the kids. The Big Cheese advertises a spaghetti w/ meatballs plate or spaghetti with butter and garlic for $3.50 or a chicken tenders and fries for $5.25. Of course since it is called The Big Cheese, you can also do a pizza and wings combination for the family starting with a 12" inch pizza and 10 wings for $16.50 up to the sheet pizza, 30 wings and a 2 liter for $45.

The Big Cheese also has a Facebook page which you can find here.

8. Limp Lizard

With three locations in Syracuse, Liverpool and North Syracuse, Limp Lizard is a fun option for some barbecue and maybe a cold draft beer,

They also have a Lil Lizard's menu with 8 options including a BBQ slider or 3 bone ribs and comes with fries as well for only $3.99 each.

You can probably find the individual locations on social media as well but here is the link for the main Facebook and Twitter page.

7. Kim's Cicero Diner

Open 7 days a week (most days only until 1 or 2 PM), including a Friday Night Fish Fry and open menu from 6 AM-8 PM, they are located at 8319 Brewerton Road in Cicero.

They also offer a great variety on their children's menus. There are 7 breakfast anytime options that ranges in price from $2.95 - $3.25. There are also 5 lunch options ranging from $2.60 - $3.99 with option to include either fries or applesauce.

Like them on Facebook while you are at it as well by clicking here.

4. BlueWater Grill

If you can spell Skaneateles correctly (despite spell check telling you it's not a word), you may already know about this place at 11 W. Genesee Street.

What you may not know is their "For The Kids" options on their menu. These include a Hofmann frank (my favorite hot dog ever) with a side for $4.50, a flatbread cheese pizza for $4.95, chicken tenders with a side for $5.95 and a BBQ pork sandwich with a side for $5.95 as well.

#FreeStuffFriday Strikes Back

Ladies and gentlemen...boys and girls...children of all ages...I present to you another edition of #FreeStuffFriday. Without further ado, here is this weeks list.

Beak and Skiff Porch Party

Friday night (tonight) at 6pm at the Beak & Skiff Apple Orchard is a porch party featuring local band Small Town Shade (the band in the video at the top of this post). I am a huge fan of the beautiful scenery as well as their tasty apples and cider. If the weather is not appealing today or you are just too busy but would love to check out other events at their facility, here is a link to some stuff they have scheduled.

You can also hear Small Town Shade at Muddy Waters in Baldwinsville the following night according to tour dates on the band's website, where you can also find other future dates by clicking their name in the previous paragraph.

Minions In Manlius

Don't forget to check out the free movie series at Village Center Amphitheater on Arkie Albanese Ave. in Manlius starting at dusk. This week's movie is Minions on August 16th (rain date is scheduled for August 23rd). This is free and you can bring your own blanket or chair to view the movie from as well.

Dickey's Barbecue Pit

Thank you to a friend on Twitter Jess (@girlwithapibble), I received word that Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Cortland offers free meals for kids on Sunday. I was going to save this until I could do another post solely on kid's meal deals but since it is free and it's the only one I have right now, thought I would share it here instead. The deal is for one kids meal per paid adults meal, dine-in only, 12 and under, and they must order from the Kid's Meals that is equal to or less than the amount on the paid adults meal.

And if you are there. ask about the Big Yellow Cup club which also includes other free gifts as well as other offers and being among the first to know about upcoming promotions and announcements.

2016 Hannibal Fireman's Fair & Music Show

From Thursday August 18th- Saturday August 20th, the Hannibal Fire Company presents their annual event on Rochester Street in the village of Hannibal. For those of us who grew up on field days and see these fading away, this is a chance to show we still want these events in CNY.

2016 Liverpool Is The Place Concert Series

Mondays and Wednesdays at 7pm at Johnson Park in Liverpool, the Greater Liverpool Chamber of Commerce presents free live music for the community. This weeks schedule include Joe Whiting Band on Monday and Count Blastula on Wednesday. For more information on this and other music planned, click here.

Summer Games At Sylvan Beach

Next weekend is the Summer Games at Sylvan Beach with many events scheduled. The fun takes place August 20 & 21. For more information including itinerary and tickets for events that do cost money (though they advertise free family events as well as free bar events), you can check out their Facebook page here.

Only two more events remain for the free Hanover Live event that takes place on Wednesday nights in Hanover Square. August 17th will feature the band Brick Yard Road and next week August 23rd the series closes out with Castle Creek. This is a great opportunity to enjoy some free music and local places like Maxwell's, The Evergreen Pub, and J.Ryan's among others.

Float Over To @awrestaurants For Free Floats On Root Beer Float Day August 6th

When I was a wee bit of a lad, I remember going to the A&W Restaurant in North Syracuse with the family. Even at 43, I can still visualize us sitting in the car and getting one of those awesome A&W mugs. And still now at the age of 43, when I want a root beer float, A&W is the only one I choose. We lost dad last year but one memory of him I will always have is those trips and his love for root beer floats.

Why do I mention this? Well as you know, we like to point out affordable things and as you can see by the picture above, Saturday August 6th 2016 from 2 PM to close, you can get a free root beer float (no coupon needed). Sadly that North Syracuse location may no longer be open but they do have locations in Oswego (295 State Road 104) and Cortland (Junction 281 and 13) worth checking out as well as others near Binghamton and Lake George.

That's not enough to entice you to try it? Okay, how about this deal: you can also enter for a chance to win free floats for you and a friend for a year!!!! Simply tag a friend you would share this with using Twitter or Facebook and hashtag #RootBeerFloatDay and who knows, you may be one of 50 people to win. For more information, you can view the information on their website here and check out the video below.

What about a free float on your birthday? Scroll to the bottom of their page and sign up to join their Mug Club. This also entitles you to other occasional Mug Club member-only deals. As someone who once won mugs for myself and my daughter, I can't recommend highly enough the advantage of following them on Twitter and Facebook as well. And also you can try to be one of 50 people to win your own mug by participating in their "Vote For Your Favorite Mug 2016" contest until August 11th by clicking here.

Don't forget August 6th to stop in at A&W Restaurant for #RootBeerFloatDay and share it with your friends and make your own memories while enjoying a free tasty float.

Ain't Looking For Nothing But @TullysGoodTimes And It Don't Get Better Than Tenders

For those who know me, they likely knew this column was coming sooner rather than later. For years, I have been a fan of Tully's Good Times. When I first started going there, I loved their cheese steaks and burgers but then one day with the encouragement of family, I tried the Tully's Tenders and it was love at first site. But the tenders & food are only part of the reason I love supporting this great establishment.

For instance, not long ago I had an issue with a visit that took place at one of their locations. I admit I did not handle it well at first venting about it on social media instead of contacting them directly first. When I finally did contact them, the customer service I got was handled respectfully and they worked with me to correct the actions to my satisfaction to the point I went back and was very satisfied.

I am also a fan of their generous portions of soft drinks and tasty popcorn at every table. I enjoy occasionally taking part in the games like air hockey and basketball as well. I also love the Syracuse memorabilia that surrounds the place and seeing which baseball card I get carved into the table I am seated at. And as part of my visit, I love when they have Tully the Turtle out front for a picture opportunity.

So as you can see, I do have a fondness for Tully's for various reasons as well as sentimental reasons since I enjoy it with friends and family. But did you know eat at Tully's can also be very affordable for you and your family....or just you if you choose? How? Well it wouldn't be Cuse Cheap if I didn't explain ways to enjoy it while also trying to save money.

Well, if you have been reading my blog, one of my more popular posts was an earlier one called Cuse Cheap Meal Deals For The Kids And Family. Included in that post was their deal they current have for kids on Wednesdays which is VERY affordable. But did you know their kids menu is also affordable with prices varying from $3.59 for a grilled cheese and fried on the Little Sluggers Menu to $7.49  for a 6 ounce flat iron steak and fries on the Major League Menu (only $4.49 for the kids version of the Tully's Tenders platter). Keep in mind that these menu items do not include drinks but they do have soft drinks that are refillable and everything from milk to Gatorade to even some kid's smoothies and "mocktails". And also be aware that items on the Major League Menu are not applicable for the Wednesday meal deal or if you happen to have free kid's meal coupons.

But you don't have kids or you you just want a good deal for yourself? You can always save a little bit of money by catching the lunch specials Monday-Friday until 2:30pm. They also offer some good drink specials as well as their happy hour and late night specials (dine in only). My favorite deal is (and this may vary based on location but I know it applies to the Cicero and Syracuse locations) that you can get late night tenders with fries starting at 9pm for only $5.50 with the price of a beverage but they also offer other appetizer and drink specials for both happy hour and late night. Want more information about these deals? Click here to view the menu yourself.

I also recommend checking them out on Twitter, Facebook and checking their website periodically for upcoming events and specials (and don't forget to check out their gift cards, beer growlers and party platters). If you keep a look out, Tully's also occasionally offers some deals through different fund raising efforts. Often times you can get deals in association with Syracuse Crunch hockey games or find players doing autograph signings at certain locations. And even Miss Syracuse 2015 can't resist those tasty tenders.

So if you're in the mood for an affordable meal as well as the best chicken tenders in the world, be sure to check out your local Tully's with 10 locations throughout Central and Western New York.

Just As Free As Another #FreeStuffFriday...Posted On Thursday

Welcome to another edition of Free Stuff Friday!!!! This is a list of some free things you can enjoy during this weekend and the upcoming week. So without further ado...

The Great American Irish Festival

What? You know about this festival in Frankfort and you know tickets aren't free? You would be partially correct however according to their website, active military members and children under 13 receive free admission. The festival is this Friday, Saturday and Sunday and you can get all the information you need if you are interested by clicking on their website.

Oswego Harborfest

I honestly almost forgot about this event until I saw Sarah Moses from syracuse.com post a story about it on my Twitter timeline. And since it is not my style to steal credit from someone who worked hard on something, you can read Sarah's story and learn more about the event here. This event has actually already started and will continue on through the weekend.

AmeriCU Syracuse Arts & Crafts Festival

This weekend downtown in Columbus Circle it the AmeriCu Syracuse Arts & Crafts Festival for those who like to explore downtown events or your creative sides. This offers more than 160 artists as well as interactive family activities. If this is something you're interested in, you can find a list of the entertainment, vendors even a map of the festivities on their website here.

Northeast Jazz & Wine Festival

If you're wanting to head downtown but you're looking to "jazz" up your weekend instead, be sure to head to Clinton Square for the Northeast Jazz & Wine Festival this weekend.

William's Restaurant

Family Warrior Reset

If you're a veteran in CNY or have someone in your life who is, you should either be familiar with the group Clear Path For Veterans or become familiar with them soon.  This is an organization doing great things for local veterans. On July 30th is one of my favorite events they do in Chittenango NY and it's called the Family Warrior Reset. This is free to all active duty service members, veterans and their families and is aimed at family fun (including activities for the kids) and various wellness opportunities. This is also a great opportunity for veterans and their families to interact with people who have similar experiences and may be more familiar with situations they face daily.

For more information in this event Saturday, read about the specifics details on their website here and browse around while you are there to see other events or things they are doing to help our veterans and their families who gave so much to help defend us.

Marble Hunts

Here is something unique yet looks like fun. My friend @BrewCuse on Twitter brought it to my attention and if you enjoy scavenger hunts or you're looking for a fun way to get out and explore your area, this may be for you. There is a national group (which has a closed FB group but a public website here) called World's Biggest Marble Hunt and a local Facebook group called Gorge Glass Of the Finger Lakes with more specific information on local hunts, which you can follow if you have Facebook by clicking here.

Open Farm Day Madison County

Would you like to learn more about local farms? Thank you to my friend  @t_Mac_141 for the heads up on this event. This is a great opportunity from the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County to explore some great local farms and their contributions to the local economy. You can find out more information and download your passport (which trust me is filled with plenty of information you will want and need) here and you can also follow along on their Facebook page here.

Sullivan Free Library Events

One great place I enjoyed as a kid that offered free events for adults and families is your local public library. Growing up in Bridgeport, I am very familiar with the Bridgeport branch of the Sullivan Free Libraries and back before the internet, I would go there to find books and look up college information in their catalogs along with other things when I wasn't playing at Gateway Park. With locations in Bridgeport and Chittenango, they offer different events as well for all ages. For instance, the Chittenango branch offers a free movie for adults on Wednesdays at 1pm and Bridgeport has an event called "Out Of The Cage Wildlife Rescue" on August 3rd at 1 PM for those wanting to learn hands on about reptiles and mammals alike.

You can find the calendar on their website here and also follow them on Twitter or Facebook. If you're not located near these libraries, do yourself a favor and check out your local library to see what they have to offer and show your support for them as they provide great resources for the community.

Liverpool Summer Movies Series

And last but not least, don't forget about the Liverpool Summer Movies Series with only two more remaining (this Tuesday's movie is Inside Out).

Treat Yourself To Vicky's Tasty Treats Today

With the summer temperatures heating up, I felt it was time to add an option for those looking for a soft ice cream fix. The people over at Vicky's Tasty Treats were one of the friendliest and most open people I have dealt with since I started this blog and I wanted to share their story.

Located at 680 Old Liverpool Road in Liverpool. they are open 7 days a week until 10:30 PM. Owners Lisa and Alan King run this family business that started with her aunt and uncle in 1972 under the name Tastee Freeze. And since Lisa took the time to break down the history of their family business and did it so well, I will let her explain the history of this family business in her own words.

"In 1972, our Liverpool landmark, named Tastee Freeze at that time, was owned by my aunt and uncle (my dad's sister). At that time, they sold ice cream as well as tacos, burgers, sausage and meatballs. In 1985, my dad, Bill Commisso, purchased the business from his sister and changed the name to Vicky's Tasty Treats, named after my mom, Vicky Commisso. Upon purchase, they decided to sell only ice cream. At that time, my dad created his own recipes for Italian Lemon Ice and Orange Sherbet. Throughout the years, these two items have always been a crowd favorite..everyone loves out orange vanilla twist and lemon ice, which makes me so proud. I was a teenager at the time of my parents taking over the family business, working on school nights and weekends.
After graduating from high school , I began working in banking, which is where I met my husband, Alan King. In 1995, my parents were transitioning to retirement, and I decided to leave banking to take over the family business. I began working full time for my parents to learn the ins and outs of all things ice cream. In 2001, I obtained ownership, and my dad stayed on as my employee a couple days a week to guide and mentor me, and because he likes to always stay busy. Even to this day, I still have regular customers that ask.." Where's your dad, with his big black Cadillac?", which always puts a smile on my face. From 2001 , both my husband, Alan, and I have been running our family business and love everything about it. We enjoy seeing our generations of regular customers and meeting new people who become our faithful regulars. We have a 13 year old daughter, Madison, who has now begun working with us and we look forward to the day that we can pass on the torch to her. We are very proud to be considered a Liverpool landmark and are very grateful to our wonderful customers."
If you are wondering about their current menu, they offer very reasonable prices for very generous portions. You can get milkshakes, sundaes, floats, old fashioned ice cream sodas, flurries, slushes, ice cream sandwiches, and frozen bananas. And as mentioned above, they offer homemade lemon ice, homemade orange sherbet (both this and the lemon ice are family recipes passed down), and homemade black raspberry sherbet as well as vanilla, chocolate, chocolate vanilla twist and a orange vanilla twist (I admit this one has me curious to try it myself even though I have a weakness for soft vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles).

So as you can see, this is a small family owned business that during this summer heat is worth supporting. Next time you are in the area, be sure to give Lisa and Alan King a visit at Vicky's Tasty Treat in Liverpool and see for yourself why this family business has been a Liverpool landmark since 1972.

For more information, you can also check out their Facebook page here.

We're Off To See The Wonderful All Things Oz Museum (@ATO_museum)

For those who do not know me personally, I am a full time caregiver for my mother who has Alzheimer's disease. When we don't have anything planned, we often listen to music and watch comedies and fun musicals because I believe it's important to keep the mood light and happy (and mom enjoys them so much). One of the musicals she loves is The Wizard Of Oz, which is one I remember watching as a family when we were kids. Now maybe it's because she is a Chittenango HS graduate and the heavy influence on the area by the movie or just that the movie and music are enjoyable but whatever the reason, it means a lot when we watch it together. And located at 219 Genesee Street in Chittenango, NY is a museum that embraces this cultural icon called All Things Oz Museum.

Brought to you by the great folks at The International L. Frank Baum & All Things Oz Historical Foundation, this is a great place for people who love and grew up on the movie. For only $5 a piece or free to children 10 and under, you can see some very items about the movie, it's history, the author of the book as well as items from the Judy Garland estate. You can also get a very affordable annual membership (information for that is on their website which you can find here) that helps support this great museum and their efforts to help others relive the passion many of us feel by watching this great film or reminiscing about our childhood watching it with the family. If you are considering the membership offer, keep it mind it also comes with unlimited visits during regular hours, 10% off all items in the gift shop (pictured below) as well as special invites to member only functions.

Keep in mind that the museum is only open to the general public Wednesday 11 AM-3 PM and Saturdays 10 AM-3 PM during the summer. However, they are willing to open for appointments (to schedule one, you can call them at 315-333-2286 (Baum...as in the author of the book L. Frank Baum).

If you're interested in learning more about them, you can also find them on Twitter, Facebook and their website. The Oz-Stravaganza may only take place once a year but you can always get your Wizard of Oz fix by visiting the museum to hold you over until the next one in 2017. So if you live in the area and have never checked it out, overdue for another visit or maybe you live out of the area but would love to plan a trip to CNY, check this out as you journey through Chittenango, NY. Just click your heels and tell yourself, "There's no place like the All Things Oz Museum" and you'll see why this is a fun and affordable museum worthy of support and checking out.

Five More Cheap Deals on Kids Meals

Okay so before I start, I feel I need to explain myself briefly. My intention was to put together another long list of places to get either free meals or places that offer great deals on kids meals (excluding fast food options & dollar menus that most are aware of already). While researching this, I found FOUR place that offered free deals on Tuesdays and one that had a deal of 2.95 for everything on their kid;s menu. Since today is Tuesday, instead of delaying to see if maybe I could find more, I decided to post the five I did find and if I find more, I may do another post in the future (or one day combine them all).

So without further ado, here are the 4 free deals and one fairly inexpensive deal for you (as listed on their website or through their social media outlets) in the hopes maybe some of you will take advantage of them today if you choose.

Borio's Restaurant

As listed on their website, Borio's Restaurant, located off Lakeshore Road in Cicero and on Oneida Lake with a view so great I took a picture from there and use it on my blog and posted above, offers a deal for Tuesdays. Among their specials listed on their menu page, they state that on Tuesdays, children eat free 5-9 PM with the purchase of an adult dinner.

Delphia's Restaurant And Bar

Delphia's, located at 236 Genesee Street in Chittenango, is a place I have frequented and enjoyed as well. They are closed on Mondays and offer happy hour drink specials 5-7 PM if you like but they also have a great deal for the kids. On Tuesday's, kids eat free and that includes a drink and dessert.

For more information on the restaurant, their menu and other deals, click to view the website here.

Kirby's Grill And Taphouse

With locations in Fayetteville, Westvale, and Yorkville, Kirby's advertises some very cools meal deals such as for a limited time only, $16.99 for a steak and lobster dinner on Saturday nights and $10.99 ribs and fries deal on Mondays and Thursdays all day. But since you came here for the kids menu, they also advertise a free kids meal with drink for every adult entree for kids 12 and under on Monday AND Tuesdays.

For more information on their locations, directions and their menu, the link to their site is right here.

Ruby Tuesday

Last night, Elizabeth Doran of Syracuse.com broke the news (here is the link) that the Dewitt location of Ruby Tuesday is closing but there are still other locations staying open . Ruby Tuesday also offers a free kids meal on Tuesdays from 5 PM-Close with the purchase of an adult entree. You can also add a Kids Fresh Garden Bar for only 1.99 with the purchase of a kids meal any day.

Flo's Diner

Anyone who has traveled to or through Canastota along Route 31 knows the Flo's Diner as the home of the 10 Cent coffee. What you may not know is that Flo's also advertises over 15 menu items for under $1. Now they do not advertise as free meal for kids but after viewing their menu, all 4 kid's menu items are listed for only $2.95 each. In case you are not familiar with Flo's or want more information including their menu, the link is here.

And that will do it for today. As I said, I am sure there are more out there but I found these last night and wanted to be sure they were posted today in case people wanted to use them since all four free meals are apply to today. Enjoy and have a great day! :)

Great Specials & Casual, Family Friendly Fun at @Trappers2Pizza

*I would like to apologize as I previously had a bad link to their website and one of their specials listed incorrectly. Those issues are now fixed and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused Trappers 2 and any readers who viewed the earlier errors.*

Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE pizza!!!! If there was one thing I could likely eat every day and never tire of it, it's pizza. So today I wanted to focus on a pizza place in Minoa that I love following people they are great to interact with and have great specials...Trappers II. Located at 101 North Main Street in Minoa, they open at 11:30 AM Monday-Friday and at noon on Saturday and Sunday (closing times are 10 PM Monday-Thursday, 12 AM Friday night, 11:30 PM Saturday and 8 PM on Sundays).

When I reached out to them to ask about their specials earlier today, what I found out was Monday is family night. Sadly due to circumstances beyond my control, I wasn't able to get this up sooner for people to see it early but here is their Monday deal:

$10 18 inch cheese pizzas and half off fried dough ($2.50)...I do love fried dough!

The good news is, I also learned they have other great deals such as lunch specials Monday-Friday $5 for 2 cheese slices and a soda or $6 for two one topping pizza slices and a soda. They also have other specials listed on their specials page that you can find here.

Are you a member of a golf league in Bridgeport, Chittenango, East Syracuse-Minoa or Fayetteville-Manlius areas? You can also get a great deal by registering for their 19th Hole Golf Club, As a member of this club, you will receive vouchers you can use for free or discounted items at Trappers II and one team will be chosen at the end of the summer to receive a party for their whole league. For more info on it and to sign up, click the link here.

I also encourage you to follow Trappers II on social media like I do to stay up on other things they have going on not listed here or on their website. You can find them on Twitter and Facebook by clicking on the respective names for the sites. So travel to Minoa and check them out today and visit their website for more information on options such as volleyball, bocce, catering, fund raising or employment opportunities by clicking www.trappers2pizza.com.

So instead of posting several different events the Onondaga County Public Library is offering, I am just going to post the link here. With the kids out of school or maybe you just enjoy various different activities, this list is sure to help you out this summer. Some of these are things from Story Time to Yoga For Everyone or Tai Chi or their Technology Camps plus a whole lot more.

Everson Museum Of Art Movie Series

As first reported by Katrina Tulloch on syracuse.com, the Everson Museum of Art will feature a free movie series this summer. Here is Katrina's story if you're interested in the schedule that includes the film Frozen and the reason I put that song in your head today. :)

Canandaigua Art & Music Festival

Trash To Treasure Sale and Beef Barbecue

This last one I am adding because this is the church I grew up in. On Saturday July 16th, the Bridgeport United Methodist Church is holding this event from 8:30 am- 2 pm. The church is located on the corner of Route 31 & North Road and admission is free but the beef barbecue is $9 and starts serving at around 11 am.
